Hundreds of children will spend one or two weeks of their summer vacations on the shores of Lake Vera. Dozens of families spend a Spring or late-Summer weekend climbing the ropes course, swimming in the falls, and enjoying the company of their own and other families.
As you probably know, Camp Augusta, Incorporated is a non-profit organization. We receive no money from the City of Piedmont or any other governmental assistance. All camp operating expenses, such as food, counselors' salaries, insurance and electricity, are paid by camp tuition and rental fees from outside groups.
Non-profit organization. Unless you’ve worked for one, especially a small one, it is unlikely that you can appreciate the need and gratitude for gifts both small and large. It means that we rely on donations for many of the things we have and do at camp. Our magnificent lodge was a grant. Families barely making ends meet are able to give their kids the wonderful gift of Camp Augusta because of scholarship donations. Many of our program supplies were donated to us. Only through your generosity can we continue to fund these worthy improvements to your camp.
As you consider options for distributing your philanthropy, please consider Camp Augusta. We welcome a variety of donations, from financial contributions to building materials, services, or program equipment.

Gifts of Love - Time
Camp Augusta has a traditional Spring and Fall work weekend. No skills are needed, and we often complete fun projects such as new construction and creating additional program areas. In May 2009, we built a wonderful horse tack shed, a round horse pen, a riflery shed, a foam weapons shed and a new deck for the staff house.
2010 Work Weekend = April 23rd - 25th (Saturday is the main day)
Beyond those times, we are always looking for volunteers to contribute their skills or time to camp. Graphics, finance, web, and other skills can be done from anywhere. Volunteer opportunities are available any time, and not just during the summer.

Gifts of Love - Money
Many people choose to donate to our scholarship program. Children who would not be able to afford the benefit of a Camp Augusta experience are able to come through generous donations. Our waiting list for such campers is greater than our ability to serve them.
Of course, monetary donations for large and small items alike are greatly appreciated. Come take a walk around the camp with the director to see what potential is yet to be tapped.

Gifts of Love - Things
Most families understand that they can’t have everything they want. Similarly, Camp Augusta can’t have everything it wants. The things on this list are there because we feel they would enhance the program or site, or because a donated item would prevent us from buying it, which would enable us to acquire other wanted things. This list is more illustrative than comprehensive.

$5,000+ Gifts
High Ropes Course Element
While our ropes course has exciting opportunities, we would like to expand it with additional elements such as a Flying Squirrel, Pamper Pole, Vertical Playpen, and Alpine Tower.
Bouldering Wall
Instead of the focus being on going up, the climber moves sideways. With “UP” taken out of the equation, it is easier for campers to focus on the techniques of climbing.
Solar Panel System
Alternative energy sources would serve both to supplement our electricity (serving many buildings), as well as to educate campers about this opportunity.

Picture a floating ten foot soft structure with three sides. Two sides have soft climbing holds, while the third is a slide.
Low Ropes Element
Through a generous donation, 2009 saw the creation of our hugely popular low ropes course. There are endless possibilities how this team building program could be expanded.

Lake Kayaks

These boats offer the opportunity to learn new skills, and adapt learned skills (i.e. canoeing).

Woodworking Tools
While we have adequate tools, like a Yankee Workshop, there are a few additions that would expand the kind of projects possible.
Drama Costumes

You might have just the thing in your closet or a box somewhere. If not, and this is of interest, a small donation would enable the purchase of additional garb.
Totem Pole
Such an artifact would add to the character and ambiance of the camp.
