Hey there! My name is Ericka Gress, and I am 24 years old. I come from a small town in Washington located in the San Juan Islands called Anacortes. This is going to be my third summer at camp and I am thrilled about that!
Over the last winter I have been going to school at Western Washington University. I haven’t decided what I really want to do yet, but hopefully I will figure that out soon. I work at my local swimming pool teaching lessons, life guarding, and cashiering. The pool is kind of like my second home since I practically grew up on the swim team there. I also used to work in the office of a small family-owned petroleum distributor. At camp, I will be combining my skills from all of these jobs to help out wherever I am needed. You’ll see me teaching a variety of clinics, working in the office, and helping out in tons of other ways to make the camp hum along!
At home, I have two crazy dogs, an Airedale named Bailey and a standard poodle named Jayce. They have the biggest personalities that I have ever seen in an animal, which keeps us very busy taking care of them. In my spare time, I like riding horses, kayaking, swimming, scrap booking and pretty much anything else that lets me move around, because I am not that good at sitting still. I am a pretty happy-go-lucky-kind-of person and I will be bringing that with me to camp. I love to try new things and working at Camp Augusta gives me plenty of opportunities to do so! I also like to encourage other people to try things that they never knew they could do because they are always so happy when they accomplish it. Camp is going to be an experience of a lifetime and I can’t wait for it to start!
