Hello campers, family and fellow staff!

My name is Grace Adcock, but most of you know me as Grace Face. Here at school, I go by Gracie Pants, a loving nickname from my friend Val. I am lucky enough to return to the magical Camp Augusta for my second summer. I can hardly wait!  But, just as we all grow and change, so does camp, even if we are not there (that is part of Its magic). This year, instead of returning as the EQ HERO, I will be the EQ director; Kelly will not be returning this year, because she is getting married. I may not be moving very far, in fact horses will still be my home and that is where I know I belong, but I am looking forward to my new responsibilities. The other new things I am looking forward to are meeting all the new campers, the new horses (if you are a returning camper you will meet them soon enough and I promise to get photos up ASAP), and working with both returning and new staff.

When I return to camp, I will be a graduate of California State University Monterey Bay. My major is humanities and communication with a concentration in English. My career goal is to become a high-school English teacher. In addition, I will have a minor in outdoor education and recreation. Besides completing school, I have spent my time away from camp substitute teaching in an alternative education program for the county of Monterey and mentoring students from the classes I teach in at Freedom Reins, a program that rescues horses and uses them for equine therapy and riding lesions.  I was lucky enough to travel a bit as well, visiting both Kelly and Erica in Washington and Hansel in England, where I spent new years and my birthday! Holidays in another country are fabulous and I recommend that all spend at least one birthday in a new place if they can.

Most of my 22 birthdays, however, have been spent in Redding, CA, where I grew up with my mom, dad and brother. I started riding when I was about 10; my neighbor had horses and I had the pleasure of helping her make sure they all were ridden regularly. Besides horses, I love to read (I did beat Benji to the end of Harry Potter last summer!), travel, backpack, generally spend time outdoors and attend sporting events (I caught me first foul ball this year). If there is anything you still want to know about, please simply ask. I look forward to another great summer with new and old friends, see everyone soon!
