Greetings to you!
My name is Christian Horvath A.K.A. the “Hungry Hungarian,” but you can just call me Krisz [pronounced simply like Chris]. I got that nickname last year, since sometimes I can eat an amount of food that would humble even a bucket of piranhas. I was born about 23 years ago, and I'm just about to graduate as a teacher at the field of computer technology.
“So, what do you like to do in your free time?” Okay, I guess I need to wait for your answer until we meet, but really, I'd like to know. One of my most beloved hobbies are riding my light-weight cruiser, feeling the wind through my hair (actually only imagining it, since it's usually a clever idea to wear a helmet, bucket, half a coconut or whatever on your head for protection). It's also like a mobile sauna! If you have doubts add together some black leather pants, black jacket, thick black gloves and a handful of heart-lightening sunshine with the heat of 90 Fahrenheit!
When not getting roasted, I like pretending I'm some sort of a new-age knight, swinging a practice sword I received from camp as a gift last year. Fun fact: head hurts when beaten with sword. No, really! I have a friend, who's trained in the art of kendo. (You know those, Japanese knight-like dudes with their light-saber sharp swords.) I've trained with him for a while, so if you are interested in how to mess around with some medieval instruments of body re-shaping, I'll gladly teach you a trick or two!
Okay, I know a little about how to swing around with a fancy stick, called a “practice sword,” and give handshakes with some gratis motor oil on my hand in addition to my sweaty biker-suit, but that didn't fulfill me completely... So, I needed to enhance my skills at the field of “dancing.” Actually, the basic movements are really easy. Lift up one limb and put it down somewhere else. Repeat... Only when we add some fancy stuff, it starts to get tricky. By that I mean things like: music, a partner, an audience and such. So anyways, after about ten years of practice just ask me if you are willing to add something to your repertoire at salon dances, as for example like tango, salsa, rumba, mambo or disco-fox!
It's not quite a hobby, but I like animals! Dogs, cats, canaries -I know they aren't getting along quite well- and of course horses! So if you are interested in learning something about them, I'll gladly teach you a thing or two as well as I'm open to widen my knowledge about Mother Nature.
I have another question to you: what do you value in someone? For me, I like for example self-honesty (if you think about it, it's harder to be honest with yourself, without being too optimistic or too harsh, than it seems). Bravery! Believing and acting like you are not afraid is a trick that works more often than not. When it works, it’s a great way to strengthen oneself!
Empathy: you know if you hit a person in the head with a stick it hurts. Good for you! But if you don't beat up folks with a stick because of that, you won a good point at me! ; )
Aye, before I forget! (I value good memory too...) If you have a sense of humor, then you won yourself at least a one-person-sized audience!
One more thing: I love creative ideas! Thanks to the campers from last year with an experimenting-oriented spirit, we invented activities like the “Canoe battle royale,” or the “mountain board jousting.” Of course, your safety is important, so we might won't experiment with the “Firework-climbing" or the “William Tell's style giant swing,” but there will be interesting things to experience at camp, I can tell you!
Looking forward to meet you! Until then -
Best wishes from
Krisz
