Our equestrian program features fourteen experienced horses, five dedicated equestrian staff, large arena, lunging pen, and numerous trails on and off camp.
Campers learn Western-style riding, although we are adding English riding to our 2006 program. After campers learn basic safety and horsemanship, they have the opportunity to gain experience in our arena and out on the trail. Advanced campers can demonstrate their skills and then sign up for higher levels early in the week. Equestrian skills are refined, and campers are able to do more advanced work such as barrel racing, trotting poles, posting, and learning to identify leads. These campers may also sign up for our special dinner ride, if they achieve level three status by the end of the week.
In addition to trail riding and arena work, campers have the opportunity to experience bareback riding, grooming/saddling classes, bathing classes and a chance to paint their horses. All equestrian activities are based on our level system, which insures safety.
Safety is a prime concern. We have a certified equestrian director, experienced staff, top-of-the-line helmets, quality riding boots, and more.
